So Much Better
Today finds Our Ramblin’ Van lounging by the Trinity River in Texas. We’re tucked in nicely, mooch docking with family and learning how to live van life. I have to say, this is SO much better than just waiting for the van. We’re learning to adapt to littleness. Getting in and out of bed is much more strenuous in the van, we should have been practicing yoga long ago and would really have benefitted from helmets the first few nights, but we’re getting the hang of it now. You do have to think about everyday things a little more in a tiny space, like which side of the cabinet door you are on when you open it really matters now. Overall, the adjustment is happening pretty quickly and seamlessly.
This is our first van life trip with our fugitive cat, Butch Catsidy. We are very pleased to report that he is doing JUST FINE and is itching to get a blog entry in about his van experiences, so be on the lookout for that…coming soon.
This is our first shot at staying in one place in the van for multiple days as well, and we are finding that we really enjoy just hanging out in the van. This may have something to do with the van being nicely air conditioned and the outside humidity level being about 189% here, but seriously (yes, it feels that humid here) we are not finding our extended stay in the little space confining at all. It is surprising how quickly you adapt to your space and very encouraging because this is about to be our entire home for an extended period of time.
We’re finding a place for everything and learning quickly that everything needs to be in its place. So far, everything is running like clockwork, we couldn’t be happier with our new home. This is so much better than waiting, planning, dreaming and waiting some more. It has been a long time coming and is well worth it. Big thank you to Chris and the crew from ActiVan Conversions for doing such an awesome job with our build and making our van so much better than we wished for.
